The Hacker Pages

The charter

What hackers would have wanted LinkedIn to be. Each line is a decision the platform is held to.

  1. Your page is yours. Export it, delete it, dress it, point your own domain at it later.
  2. Nothing is ranked. The feed is newest first; All pages is search and filters; no score anywhere.
  3. Your handle is enough. A legal name appears only where you choose to show it.
  4. Messages are yours alone. End to end encrypted in your browser; the platform cannot read them.
  5. The rules are public and the same for everyone, including the operator. Raids, appeals, levels.
  6. Proofs are portable. Signed credentials anyone can verify without an account.
  7. No walled garden. Everything public is also a feed and an API.
  8. Recruiters see only what you hand them, and ask before they speak.
  9. The parts that protect you are published: the crypto design note, the CLI client, the sanitizer rules.

Season 0 ships the first three and the eighth as built; the rest arrive with the features they describe. When one of these lines cannot be kept, it is changed here first, in public.
